blog vs journal

It seems that I post at least half of the month, in other words, every other day.  Although I don't actually post every other day.  Sometimes I post twice a day, or 4 days a week and nothing over the weekend.  Generally I try to get to it more often than not and it seems that it works out to about half the amount of posts as days per month.

Got that?  Good.

It suddenly dawned on me though that I am no longer writing in my journal.  The actual one, not the virtual one.  You know, the one that works with pen and paper...  Pen the thing with ink in that comes out as you move it along a piece of paper, the thing that is kind of thin and white (or coloured if you are that way inclined) and can capture the ink from the pen as mentioned afore.  I started wondering why not, because I really enjoy writing, so why should I not write in both.  

I seem to have run into 2 slight bumps along my writing road:

Number 1:

Time.  It's the age old issue that becomes even more of a hurdle when you suddenly have a child to take care of (she's about 16  months old, I love her with all my heart and she loves me just as much which means that all she ever wants is her mommy and I, in a slight insane wave, wanted to be a hands on parent).  Finding time to both write and blog just does not seem possible or even plausible.  Finding time just to do one is already only happening every other day, so...

on to Number 2:

Finding a topic.  This is not such a great problem.  I have hundreds of ideas, although I only recently realised that the smart thing to do it to put them all in draft because mommy-brain is apparently something that might last until the little angel is 16.  Or was that 60?  Regardless, I have now started to create little notes on my BB with the main train of my thought, whether it is sparked by a movie, a twitter post or a real life discussion, I create them immediately because otherwise they get lost or transferred to someone else (which also makes me seem a little bit unsocial because I am always coming up with ideas and people think it is rude to type away on your BB during a conversation or movie - they just don't realise that this is most probably your last method of keeping the little bit which is you, alive and in working order).  The hurdle in this case is the fact that I digitise my thoughts.  And since they are already in digital format, I transfer them to my blog, not my pen.  Being kind of old school and ethical, I think it is considered plaguerism if I copy the writings off one to another.  Does is count if both works are my own?  I kind off feel that it does, which is why what goes into my journal does not go into my blog and vice versa.  Thus, I am stuck with having to find 2 topics per day to write about OR finding a pen when I want to pen a thought instead of my easy to reach and always handy BB OR copying what I write about to my blog or what I blog about to paper without feeling horribly inaddiquate and uncreative.  

So there you have it.  The excuses, no - REASONS I no longer write in my journal.  

All this made me realise that since I don't blog on weekends, maybe I should just find an hour each day to write in my journal...  Plausible?  Yes.  Possible?  We'll just have to wait and see because best laid plans often go array in the midst of little girls who want their mommy.
